Offspring of Brec;
Orion. A young SAR prospect with owner Paul a certified SAR Technician, Team Leader and past board of director who recently retired from a long career of public service in both federal law enforcement and the United States Navy. I am honored Paul has one of our pups. Follows is a Sept 2026 update from Paul; Ramona, I thought I would give you a quick update. Orion continues to do very well. He has a great nose and a high drive to find odor. We are training on odor several times a week. Orion and I usually train some every day in our own (although not every day on odor); we work with an instructor once a week or every other week: and we have training with our SAR non-profit 3x a month. We are just starting work on forming a trained final response. We have been doing short periods of obedience daily; this includes learning directional commands (which is coming along slowly), down at a distance, come, leave-it, etc. He excels at the basic stuff. He has a truly great disposition. If he were a person, I’d say he had a “sunny” demeanor. He is game for just about anything I ask of him. He weighed in at 60.2lb yesterday. He is definitely tracking to be smaller which is great! My back will appreciate that whenever I need to lift him. (Which is often: I don’t let him jump down off of anything at this age). I really appreciate having my friend. He goes everywhere with me which is a blessing as Kora died suddenly, and very unexpectedly, at the beginning of the month. Thank you for trusting me with your pup. He is a great boy.
SAR female in training; Good morning, Ramona., Just wanted to send you an update on Lizzy. We are doing well and training hard. She just passed her temperament test with the Clackamas county sheriffs office. She got a perfect score!! The temperament test is more like a CGC test, pretty much all the same elements. She had to heel off leash within a crowd (right turn, left turn, and about face). We had to do a figure 8 around two other officers and their dogs and then sit and have the same dogs turn round her. She had to pass the non-reactivity test to an officer in a bite suit (the SAR team does not allow dogs with bite experience to be on the team). And she had to be left alone on lead with me leaving the room and then be handled with an officer. She was amazing and quite the charmer. Everyone loved her sweet demeanor and small frame. We are getting quite close to our certification test. I am hoping to get her certified by the end of the summer. She is great, I just need to work out some of my own kinks with line management and working blind trails. Being able to read and trust your dog on a blind trail the hardest part, in my opinion. I hope all is well with you and your family. Thank you, as always, for giving me such an amazing dog. She is beloved by everyone she meets. Brooke
A young son of Brec. Photo taken during a break in training at the new stadium where he performed his first "sweep" and screening of a few carts. This male has good health, superb character, lives in a multi dog household with little children without issue, has high drives in training with a great "off switch" at home. We expect him to complete his explosives detection and criminal apprehension training/certification next year.
Pup Saber swimming with PSD RHAEGAR Dual Purpose, Specialty Narcotics K9. Saber is in training to replace Rhaegar.
As you know, tomorrow he will be 8 months old. He's gorgeous, a big puppy with a big personality. He's very active, loves helping with feeding livestock and collecting everything he can get in his mouth and decorating the house and yard. He steals everything in his reach, but the tv remote and Jim's glasses are his favorites. Sometimes both in his mouth at the same time! He's affectionate and loves to ride in the truck. Diane
Hi Ramona, It’s impossible for a pup to be loved more than this one! He has been perfect for us. He is crazy smart, so well-adjusted and LOVES training. He is a “steady eddy” nothing rattles him (just like you told us). He is going to be a great service dog for us! JH
