Hi Ramona, I hope this note finds you well. While I've always enjoyed reaching out and sharing updates on the latest antics of our pups, it's taken a few days for me to be able to sit down and compose this one. Sadly, a few days ago, our beloved Kenzie left us, just a few weeks shy of her 16th birthday (and as such, I declare her 16). Kenzie was doing quite well right up to just a few days prior. Surely she slowed down from her prime days, but she enjoyed a very good quality of life and was a HUGE part of our family and our day to day. It's hard to put things in perspective, losing her after such a long time. She lived a great life and enjoyed robust health, never having really any health ailments, that being the result of great genetics and great husbandry since as you know we pride ourselves in the care we provide for our dogs. Trying to put things in some perspective, it was more than 15 years ago that we began to train and prepare Kenzie for the BH. It was nearly 15 years ago when she trialed and got her BH. It was then more than 14 years ago that we spent a full year of training for personal protection, bringing her though the absolute highest levels of training (sleeve, then suit, then hidden sleeve, hidden suits, muzzle work, etc...). She thrived in that area as she had extremely strong civil, fight and social dominance, but along with a completely calm and clear mind. No level of pressure in defense could not be handled by her. She was amazing. Having all that while having a super-tender side, she welcomed our daughter home from the hospital as an infant 14 years ago now and had been beside her ever since. Kenzie leaving us leaves us heartbroken, but it's been such a privilege to have had her in our life. She will be missed enormously. -Steve and Family (photo from her 15th Birthday)
