Varna z Pohranicni straze was imported by Sapphire Shepherds from the Czech Republic. This exceptional breeding female was not up for commercial sale. She was purchased privately out of a well know working dog breeding program ran by the former head of genetics for the z Pohranicni straze government ran kennel. Varna was one of the last females to be raised in this world famous z Pohranicni straze kennel. Bred at a time when dogs at this kennel where still produced in the spirit of the true Czech Border Patrol bloodline working German Shepherd.

A female with perfect boning and flawless temperament, Varna has great social character and is very controllable. Her working drives are very high with very strong retrieve and protection drives. Varna exhibits excellent working instincts and performs with speed, strength and accuracy! ( Look at her videos ). The characteristic will to work,  nerve and versatility is clearly evident in this female.

Varna’s bloodlines ensure that she produces working progeny that is very healthy, versatile and successful. Varna is the daughter of the great stud dog ARGO z Travnickova dvora and the granddaughter of Arys z Travnickova dvora who was the Champion of Service dogs in Slovakia and famous for his 0/0 progeny.

The mother of Varna is DARKA z Pohranicni straze, a typical GRIM z Pohranicni straze daughter. Grim was an exceptional stud dog. He attended the World Championship of German Shepherd dogs and was evaluated as the best in protection.

Varna is an extremely unique and valuable breeding female due to the fact that not only does she come from a dysplasia-free litter where all littermates possessed 0/0 (excellent) hips and elbows, her mother DARKA did as well!! Darka z Pohrancini straze: ZVV 1, 0/0, dobry, 5CU1/P was one of the most intensively used breeding females in the famous z Pohranicni straze kennel. She is well known for producing litters that are characteristic with perfect hips and elbows, strong working drives and balanced character type. At 8 years of age, she was still in excellent shape and able to produce healthy litters. She was a wonderful example of a world-class foundation breeding female. Varna has brought all these desired qualities and imparted these valuable characteristics onto her progeny here at Sapphire Shepherds breeding program.  She has been an exceptional producer for us and we are blessed to have had her. Varna also produced 2 excellent litters overseas: From her breeding with Furo Kamos she produced the well known EX z Jirkova dvora: Hips; a normal, Titled SchH1, Kkl2, ZW; 85, SZ.2154944.  a strong stud dog now residing in Germany.  Her breeding to Ory produced: AGAR-sluzebni pes PCR-SPV, ARCO-ZM, BH, ZVV1, FPR1, IPO2, VPG1, ZPO1, ARKYN- ZM, ZVV1.

We feel very honored to have been able to bring Varna into the United States (which took a LITTLE convincing, 'Thank you" to those who helped)
