I was originally looking for a highly trainable, pet quality German Shepherd Dog, a strong dog with a stable temperament, and the potential to work if necessary. I originally sought out breeders of eastern European or Czech lines because of their reputation for strict breeding standards and healthy dogs. I was also looking for a German Shepherd Dog who would get along well in a home environment with other cats and dogs. After researching different breeders it was obvious that Ramona and her family there at Sapphire Shepherds upheld these strict breeding standards and were very knowledgeable about them, and they seemed to have an exceptional breeding stock of Czech boarder patrol lines. They also seemed to raise their pups hands on in a family environment with lots of love... First, their family and business itself, Ramona was very quick to respond to questions about their dogs and what our options were, and after we agreed to buy a pup from Sapphire Shepherds, she was equally as quick to have our pup shipped that weekend, on particularly short notice for her. The shipping seemed to go flawlessly and our pup was in exceptional physical health, and from the 1st time we got him out of his kennel there at the airport it was obvious he was a stable and well socialized pup. We were also pleasantly surprised with the supply of puppy and dog food samples that she mailed a week or so later. Throughout the months since, she has been thoughtful about learning about his progress, and 10 months later, the care that her and her family have for their dogs, their clients, and for being a 1st rate breeder of German Shepherd Dogs has become more and more obvious. It's been a very positive experience dealing with Sapphire Shepherds from a business standpoint. Now the dog. Fenris as I named him, is a pup from a Rocky and Petra litter. As mentioned he arrived in exceptional health, and he has turned out to be the type of dog we were looking for in a German Shepherd Dog. I have a very physically active lifestyle and he has been at home in the woods and outdoors from his 1st weeks here and loves our many outings. As he's grown I've been impressed with his strong, wide muzzle and his strong head type, and I can't say enough about his athletic ability. He's a natural athlete. At 1 year, his weight is 90 pounds, and he's impressively agile and fast, and I'm guessing all of the pups from these Czech breedings at Sapphire Shepherds are as well, as they seem to be exactly what the Czech boarder patrol have bred for for decades, and what the German Shepherd breed itself was bred for. He is obviously intelligent and learns well. God willing I hope to eventually train him in tracking, and I especially hope to train him in his strength, which would seem to be agility. The photos in his photo album speak for themselves,
I'd gladly elaborate or speak or write with anyone who is looking for a more in depth recommendation, as Ramona always has my contact information and email.
God bless.!!!!!!!
Steve Simmons, and family and Fenris.
